Youth Education Programs
Placer SPCA Humane Kids Camp - 2006 COLORS OF THE RAINFOREST presentation CPC has developed its unique classroom programs to instill in our youth humane attitudes toward all living creatures. Each program is designed to complement any science curriculum and gives students of all ages an up-close and interactive experience with some of the most colorful animals of the rainforest.

Any of our youth programs may be tailored to fit the needs of your classroom, scout troop, daycamp, organization (or even private groups!) So whether you're earning badges, learning about wildlife, pet care, environmental issues such as conservation, or just interested in parrots, we can create a program for you. download CPC's Youth Programs brochure >

Companion Parrot Connection is an integral part of what we are trying to accomplish with our Humane Kids Camp program. The purpose of this camp is to teach young people responsibility, kindness and respect for all living things. CPC was a perfect addition to our camp program because teaching young people about exotic birds was a piece we were missing. Of course, the campers love the opportunity to see these beautiful birds up close and personal, but the lesson that accompanies that opportunity is the reason we host this camp. This is a natural collaboration between CPC and the Placer SPCA because we both know that education is the only way we can have a future where animals are not abused, neglected or abandoned.

Colors of the Rainforest (K-8)

Our most popular presentation! Learn all about parrots. We discuss what jobs parrots perform in the wild, and what happens when they display natural wild behaviors in your home! This humane education course also discusses the responsibilities involved with a "pet" that will outlive most of their human companions. Meet some of CPC's foster residents and success stories up close and personal! This presentation is customized for grade level and subject of interest.

All About Birds (PreK-1st)

What makes a bird a bird? Pre-K through first graders learn what makes birds different from cats, dogs and people. We show and tell feathers, eggs, beaks and feet, and discuss how birds fly.
