Seminars: Parrots as Companion Animals

Because parrots benefit greatly when they have educated owners and caregivers, education is CPC's primary focus.

Foundation Seminars

The first three seminars in CPC's Parrots as Companion Animals series are designed to be taken in order. By so doing, students are able to gain an understanding of basic parrot care, wild behavior in a captive environment and the science of applied behavioral analysis. These methodologies and techniques are the foundation upon which our special interest seminars have been created.

Our "foundation" seminars include:

  1. Living with Parrots >
  2. Wild at Heart, Wild at Home >
  3. The Positive Parrot >

You don't need to own a parrot to attend any of our seminars. We encourage family and friends of parrot owners, pet-sitters, veterinary technicians, shelter & rescue staff/volunteers and anyone else interested in learning about these amazing animals to attend.

Special Interest Seminars

Some subjects, like foraging or toy-making, just need more attention than can be covered in a care or training class. Cockatoos and greys are extremely intelligent birds and have very unique needs which warrant special attentionand, therfore, their own seminar. Following completion of the requisite "foundation" seminars, special interest seminars may be taken in any order.

Advanced and special interest seminars are create from our student and consultation client requests. Current "special interest" seminars are:

Customized Presentations

CPC can customize any of its seminars for live presentations to bird clubs, veterinary clinics (staff or clients) or other interested groups in the greater SF Bay Area, Sacramento Valley and Monterey Peninsula.

We also offer specialized youth programs for children aged 5 to 18 within our service area.
